what is a server side include?
A server side include is a file you create which is incorporated into a web page. The purpose is to allow you to rapidly change many web pages by only changing one file instead of every web page.
how does it work?
Lets assume that on every web page you include at the bottom your contact information - name, address, and telephone number. You have 50 pages on your website.
If your address changes you have to make the change 50 times.
But if this text is instead placed in a server side include file, and the filename is referred to in each web page, then you only have to change your address information in the server side include. One change instead of 50!
